Back when Kanye West was directing the music video for Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” in 2010, no one could have predicted how their tumultuous relationship would take a huge nosedive over the course of the next decade. Deep into 2021, and their relationship seems to be rockier than ever, and has potentially just taken a turn for the worse.
The severity of the complicated rivalry spiraled out of control back in 2018, with the scathing “The Story of Adidon” diss track released by GOOD Music artist, Pusha T. That seemed to have blown over with time, and there was talk that Drake and Ye had mended fences, but somewhere along the line things have turned sour again. This time, largely originating from Drake’s latest verse on “Betrayal“, a track on the new Trippie Redd album, Trip At Knight (Complete Edition). Drake addressed Kanye with these bars:
“All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know
Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go
Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me, it’s set in stone”
Kayne quickly responded back by posting an Instagram picture of a group chat with 8 other people including Pusha T, and allegedly Drake:
“I live for this. I’ve been f—-d with by nerd ass jock n—-s like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.” Kanye told the group chat.
Kanye then revealed Drake’s home address in a now-deleted Instagram post shortly after on August 23, 2021. Drake simply laughed it off a few hours later on the same platform. Likely, in part, because the address has been public, and is a quick Google search away from being found.
To those wondering if the feud is fabricated to fuel album sales, both artists are trending on Twitter, with fans of both clashing in heated debates. Which is no surprise, given how high anticipation is for their respective upcoming album’s, Certified Lover Boy and Donda.
