No Gimmicks: Pat Williams Previews The Kids Will Be Fine Album

TLDR: “No Gimmicks” by Pat Williams opens the road to his The Kids Will Be Fine album, with jazzy production, candid writing and a rejection of hip-hop trend chasing.

Toronto artist, songwriter and producer Pat Williams opens the road to his debut album, The Kids Will Be Fine, with “No Gimmicks,” a record that makes its intentions plain before the first verse has time to settle in.

Produced by Williams and BMTJ, “No Gimmicks” pushes back against formula-driven hip-hop and trend chasing, pairing candid writing with jazzy chords, new-age drums and layered vocal production. The result fits the broader world Williams has been building around his music: alternative hip-hop and R&B shaped by live instrumentation, jazz fusion and electronic textures rather than a single fixed lane.

The song also brings in Junia-T and Maria Therese, among other Toronto collaborators. That communal approach carries into The Kids Will Be Fine, which Williams has built with a wide network of musicians and producers. His 2026 EPK lists the album for an October release and names contributors including Junia-T, Maria Therese, Strings From Paris, Nevon Sinclair and LOR.

“No Gimmicks” is the first of four singles planned ahead of the album, making it less of a standalone statement than an opening chapter. It follows a period in which Williams has steadily expanded his catalogue and audience. His earlier IN CASE I DON’T SEE YOU EP helped establish his cinematic blend of strings, saxophone and smooth lyricism, while later releases continued to stretch that palette across rap, R&B and alternative production.

That visual world has been developing too. In January, Williams uploaded four videos to YouTube: “Open Scene”, “Boogeyman”, “Quiet On Set Vol. 1” and “Quiet On Set Vol. 2”. “Open Scene,” released Jan. 21, offers another entry point into the atmosphere surrounding his current work.

For an artist whose music often circles love, social norms, anxiety and competing perspectives, “No Gimmicks” lands as a fitting mission statement. You can find it now on Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via Takes A Village Music.
