FOMO: Drake’s “Fear of Missing Out” Posts Fuel New Album Talks

Drake has always known how to turn silence into marketing, and his latest social media breadcrumbs have fans doing exactly what he wants: paying attention.

Early today, the Toronto superstar uploaded a minimalist Instagram post featuring the words “Fear of Missing Out” in white lettering against a black background. The caption? Nothing more than a movie camera emoji (🎥). No further info or explanations, just enough to send the internet into detective mode.

For longtime Drake fans, the approach feels familiar. Before ICEMAN and several of his previous releases, the OVO boss sprinkled subtle clues across social media before finally pulling back the curtain. This latest campaign appears to be following that same blueprint.

The clues actually started days earlier. On Aug. 12, Drake shared a six-photo Instagram carousel featuring vintage family photos of his mother, simply captioning it “FOMO 2026.” Dig back even further and the phrase appears again on July 19, 2025, when he posted an image promoting his Nike and NOCTA collaboration with the caption, “Fear of Missing Out @officialnocta @nike.”

Adding even more fuel to the speculation, the popular @rap Instagram account highlighted the timeline, pointing out that Drake first teased “FOMO 2026” before today’s “Fear of Missing Out” post, suggesting the title could be attached to an upcoming project.

Billboard noted that fans immediately began theorizing another album was on the way, while reporting that Drake’s representatives had been contacted for comment. Meanwhile, Ratings Game Music suggested the cryptic rollout, combined with recent studio photos and ongoing rumours surrounding Scary Hours 4, has made another Drake release feel increasingly possible.

The timing certainly doesn’t seem accidental. Yesterday marked the opening of History Ottawa, Drake’s newest entertainment venture alongside Live Nation in Canada’s capital. On the charts, ICEMAN has now tied Take Care for the longest No. 1 run of Drake’s career on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with both projects spending 12 weeks atop the ranking.

He’s also staying active creatively. Drake recently appeared on The Game’s “No Brakes,” featured on his latest album, The Documentary III, providing the song’s hook while continuing one of the busiest stretches of his career.

Whether “Fear of Missing Out” ultimately becomes an album, a film, or something entirely different remains anyone’s guess. But if history has taught fans anything, it’s that when Drake starts dropping breadcrumbs, there’s usually something waiting at the end of the trail.
