During an appearance on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series, Atlanta rap superstar Young Thug performed new material: “Die Slow”, “Droppin Jewels”, “Hate The Game”, and “Tick Tock.” All four songs are expected to be on his upcoming second studio album, Punk, slated for an October 15th, 2021 release.
Punk was first announced during a cover story interview with The FADER back in 2019, and was originally set to drop shortly after his first studio album, So Much Fun. That album released on August 16, 2019 and was met with positive reactions from fans and critics alike. It made its debut in the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 with 131,000 album-equivalent units sold.
“With Punk I tapped into more real world,” Thug stated during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I’m just rapping more about life situations, because I had time to sit down and actually reflect and think.”
Previous to the performance, Young Thug was also enlisted on the new Belly single, “Better Believe” which also features The Weeknd. He’s also all over his label YSL’s critically acclaimed collaborative compilation album, Slime Language 2, which accumulated well over 200 million global streams on Spotify.
