TLDR: In the new Law&Crime Network video, “Young Thug Judge Locks Up YSL Co-Defendant After Useless Testimony,” Sierra Gillespie dives into why a key witness for the prosecution was jailed during the high-profile YSL RICO trial.
In the latest twist of the YSL RICO trial, Young Thug co-defendant and key prosecution witness, Antonio Sledge—better known as Mounk Tounk—found himself jailed after his testimony unraveled in court. Sierra Gillespie of Law&Crime Network breaks down the courtroom drama that led to Judge Paige Reese Whitaker throwing Sledge into lockup for what she called a lack of “proper regard for the judicial system.”
Sledge, a former head of security for Young Thug’s YSL label, initially struck a plea deal with prosecutors in 2022. He had agreed to testify against Young Thug in exchange for fifteen years of probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges. Yet when Sledge took the stand, things quickly took a left turn. He backpedaled on his previous admission that YSL was a gang, throwing a wrench into the prosecution’s case.
Instead of providing the damning testimony expected, Sledge repeatedly answered, “I don’t recall,” mimicking another witness’s tactic and frustrating the court. This move directly violated the conditions of his plea agreement, leading the state to file a motion to revoke his probation and bond.
Judge Whitaker swiftly revoked his bond, and Sledge now faces potential prison time. This latest move marks another wild development in a case already filled with courtroom fireworks. According to Atlanta News First, prosecutors continue to piece together their case amid testimony from gang experts, detectives, and contested evidence.
As the trial unfolds, one thing is clear: Young Thug’s legal saga is far from over, and the stakes are only getting higher.
