Bay Area natives Vocab Slick and Zion I connect on new single “Stay Focused,” a lyrically potent anthem for anyone struggling to keep their minds right, especially during these trying days and times.
The track is the latest we’re hearing from Vocab’s much-anticipated new album, Language, which also includes the recently released banger “Speak My Language.” The West Coast spitter may be switching gears a bit here with more serious subject matter, but he’s still got that playful edge to his rhymes. And it’s all the layers within his bars that make them so immediately engaging, with the same applying to the guest raps from Zion.

They both provide moments of insight, humor, and bravado in their verses, while producers Surebert and Samarei provide the moody, laid-back instrumental. Surebert also handled Vocab’s “Speak My Language,” and it’s becoming apparent that the two definitely have some serious musical chemistry.
