It’s been just over a year since Snoop Dogg purchased Death Row Records and abruptly pulled the label’s extensive catalogue off of most digital streaming platforms. In April 2022, on REVOLT’s Drink Champs, he indicated that the reason they were pulled is because “no one gets paid other than the record labels,” and he planned on launching a standalone Death Row app that will host the label’s music.
Now, with a ton of public pressure probably weighing on his decision, Snoop has had a change of heart. Death Row’s catalog is back on DSPs as of moments ago, midnight, as promised by the label on social media on Thursday afternoon.
“We heard you,” wrote the label in the caption of a video montage of Death Row classics. “The time has come. Death Row Records catalog is back streaming everywhere tonight 9pm PST.”
The Chronic, Dr. Dre’s iconic solo debut, was already re-added to DSPs earlier this year in honor of the album’s 30th anniversary. Snoop’s own legendary debut, Doggystyle, is officially back up and running with “Gz and Hustlas” and “Murder Was The Case” part of the mix (for those wondering). You can also find his sophomore Death Row release, Tha Doggfather, originally released in 1996.
We haven’t had a chance to see if anything was left out, or if all of the soundtracks were included in the move, but this is a great day for fans of the unfadeable Death Row.
