Quake Matthews Brings Summer Heat With Patio Season 2

TLDR: Patio Season 2 finds Quake Matthews extending his summer-ready series with 38 Spesh, Kayo, PsycThaPrince and Quoia States, backed by a carefully timed social media campaign and an official Halifax release party.

Halifax rapper Quake Matthews is treating summer like a campaign season. Patio Season 2 arrives with the kind of rollout built for phones, feeds and late-night group chats, but the music itself keeps the focus on sharp writing, polished production and the easy confidence of an artist who knows exactly how to sell a record without overselling himself.

The sequel follows 2025’s Patio Season, which featured JRDN, Lil Dee and longtime collaborator Kayo. This time, Matthews expands the guest list with 38 Spesh, PsycThaPrince, Quoia States and another pair of Kayo appearances. Kayo lands on “Souvenirs” and “Fling,” reinforcing a chemistry that has become central to the series, while NY’s 38 Spesh brings veteran weight to a project designed to feel loose without ever sounding careless.

PsycThaPrince’s return is another smart callback. He previously appeared on “Nothin’ To Me,” a standout from Matthews’ 2023 EP The Darkroom, and his presence here gives the project another thread connecting Quake’s recent catalogue.

Matthews has also spent weeks making sure Patio Season 2 would not arrive quietly. His social media run has included slick, attention-grabbing clips with 38 Spesh and a popular series unpacking lyrics from Drake’s ICEMAN songs. The timing was hard to miss. Those breakdowns introduced Matthews to new listeners just as he was preparing to turn the spotlight back toward his own music, a savvy piece of audience-building disguised as rap commentary.

That strategy fits the record. Quake has always understood that being independent means thinking beyond the studio, and Patio Season 2 feels like both a release and a full-scale event. Fans can stream the project on Apple Music and Spotify, while the original Patio Season remains available on Spotify for anyone looking to trace the series from the beginning.

The campaign continues in person with Patio Season 2: SOULSTICE EDITION, the project’s official release party, taking place tonight, Friday, July 17 at Lot Six Bar & Restaurant in Halifax.
