Somebody Save Me: Eminem Enlists Jelly Roll for Latest Video

Rap legend Eminem recently released his third music video for The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), “Somebody Save Me,” just over a month after the album’s debut. The album, which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 200 upon its release on July 12, has seen a steady decline in its chart position, currently sitting at number 16. Despite lukewarm reviews from critics, Eminem’s devoted fanbase continues to support the record. The lead single, “Houdini,” has also slipped a little on the charts, dropping from 20 to 24 on the Hot 100.

Even with these declines, Eminem’s ability to achieve significant success at this stage in his career is noteworthy. One of the album’s standout tracks is “Somebody Save Me,” a collaboration with Jelly Roll that serves as the album’s emotional closer. The song’s weight comes from its raw exploration of past struggles with addiction. Eminem reflects on an alternate reality where his substance abuse prevented him from being present for his children’s milestones.

The Emil Nava-directed music video for “Somebody Save Me” intertwines powerful clips from Eminem’s life with heart-wrenching scenes, particularly a moment where a young Marshall Mathers is seen passed out on a couch, unresponsive to his daughter’s plea for him to eat. Instead, he tells her to “shut the door.” This visual poignantly highlights how far Eminem has come in overcoming his demons, showcasing his strength and deep love for his family. The video features clips of Hailie, Alaina and Stevie as children, as well as his brother Nate.

You can find “Somebody Save Me” and the rest of The Death of Slim Shady album on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via Shady Records / Aftermath / Interscope.
