Back in 2015, Toronto artist PriceDaBoss traveled to the Caribbean island of St. Maarten for a performance and to work on some new music. While he was there, he built a strong relationship with people on the island including Dexter Speachless, the producer of his latest single, “OP Block.”
In 2017, Hurricane Irma struck the island, a Category 5 event that caused winds of a hundred and eighty-two miles per hour to rip through neighbourhoods. In total, it was estimated that St Maarten’s tourism – the heart of it’s economy – suffered damage and losses upwards of three billion dollars.
As a result, many of the people Price had met during his trip had been affected as homes, businesses and national landmarks were swept away.
Now Price has launched a new single (with a supporting music video) with the goal of assisting with the island’s rebuilding efforts. Part of the proceeds generated from the “OP Block” (featuring Tristan Five Star) campaign will be donated to the WhyNotRebuildSXM GoFundMe campaign that can be found here.
