According to TMZ, Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion is accusing her label 1501 Certified Entertainment of attempting to block her from releasing a new song with South Korean group, BTS.
The song in question is a new remix to BTS’ hit song “Butter,” which has over 513 million streams to date on just Spotify alone. The remix is supposed to come out this Friday, unless 1501 Certified Entertainment and boss Carl Crawford are successful in their alleged attempt to block it. Why? You might ask. That’s a good question but according to the TMZ report:
“Meg believes if released, ‘Butter’ will help to expand her international fanbase, thanks to BTS’ massive brand. She claims 1501 told her they don’t believe the song would be good for her recording career — but she says that excuse is just a cover — and deep down the label is trying to shake her down for 6-figures and force her to pay them to sign off on the song’s release.” – TMZ
This isn’t the first time Megan Thee Stallion has had issues with her label. Last year she aired out some grievances over IG Live which were similar in tone.
“The rapper took to IG Live Sunday to call her out her record label, 1501, claiming they’re not allowing to drop any new music for the time being — all because, as she claims, MTS asked them to tweak some fine print in the deal she’s signed with them at a young age.” – TMZ
The Grammy Award-winners latest release is “Thot Shit” which you can check out below via Spotify.
