Louaista Looks at the So-Called “Gucci Mane Curse”

YouTuber Louaista delves deep into the mysterious “Gucci Mane curse,” a phenomenon that some believe has plagued the careers of artists signed to his label, 1017 Records.

“Today we talk about all the artists Gucci Mane has signed in the past and the curse that sticks with them.” – Louaista

The “Gucci Mane curse” refers to a phenomenon where artists signed to or associated with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records allegedly face negative outcomes like legal troubles or career setbacks. This belief gained traction due to several incidents involving artists linked to the label, sparking speculation among fans and commentators. Critics argue it’s coincidental rather than supernatural, citing broader industry challenges and individual circumstances. Despite cultural lore, definitive proof of a curse remains unsubstantiated, often debated in fan forums and social media.

Gucci Mane Curse Discussion

In a Jan. 11 episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the team discussed the Gucci Mane curse, while also questioning Gucci’s talent as an A&R executive.

“Who people are signing, how people are signing them and why people are signing them needs to be under thorough examination from all parties involved in the music business,” stated Budden.

“The same way that in sports… Last decade, when injuries started happening at a rate that they had never seen before. And studies and new science showed the game was affecting players’ bodies differently. So they started coming up with these new theories like shortening the season or making the playoffs shorter or whatever they was doing. The same thing has happened in rap in the last decade where we have never seen this many people die. We’ve never seen this many shootings, stabbings, clique beef, arrests, RICOs. I have never seen it in hip-hop.”

A quick Google or YouTube search will reveal a wealth of videos and articles speculating on the reality of the so-called Gucci Mane curse. Articles from the past few years have increasingly argued that the evidence supporting the curse’s existence has only grown stronger.
