After building up serious hype over the past few days with the help of his OVO team, Drake has released his highly anticipated new single, “Toosie Slide.”

The OZ-produced record, named after social media influencer Toosie, sees Drake release his first real dance record as the lyrics provide instructions on how to do the “Toosie Slide” dance. As the chorus says, “It go right foot up, left foot, slide, Left foot up, right foot, slide.”

The song and dance have already sparked Drake’s next big dance-based social media challenge which is taking over TikTok, Instagram and other platforms. Previous “challenges” connected to Drake include the “Kiki Challenge” and the “Flip the Switch” challenge. Both from 2018.

While “Chicago Freestyle” and “When to Say When” were released on OVO’s SoundCloud profile—along with the Future-assisted “Desires”—”Toosie Slide” is actually Drake’s first official song of 2020 to hit major streaming platforms.

The accompanying video for “Toosie Slide” was directed by Theo Skudra, who also handled the video for “When To Say When / Chicago Freestyle.” It features Drake mostly rapping from his home, and starts by capturing the eerie emptiness of the Toronto streets as a result of isolation.
