Diddy So Toxic Celebs Will Settle Lawsuits Before Being Named

TLDR: The reputation of Diddy has become so toxic that celebs might settle lawsuits to avoid even a whisper of connection to him. PR experts say the damage to Hollywood stars’ images would be severe.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has always had his name in the lights, but lately, it’s casting a dark shadow over Hollywood. According to a new TMZ article and its accompanying video interview, PR expert Evan Nierman suggests that any celebrity linked to Diddy could be so at risk of PR fallout, they’d be better off settling legal cases to avoid even the mention of his name.

In the TMZ interview, Nierman, CEO of crisis PR firm Red Banyan, dives into the details, noting that the media-savvy attorney Tony Buzbee is using the pressure of public exposure to persuade stars to cut settlement checks. The reason? Simply being associated with Diddy in this highly publicized legal scandal could permanently tarnish a celeb’s career, even if they’re innocent.

“Any celebs linked to [Diddy] parties or allegations will likely pay up to avoid being named in a lawsuit … so says an expert in crisis public relations.”TMZ

The latest lawsuit against Diddy reportedly names two anonymous celebrities as “co-defendants.” As Nierman explained, the fear of being labeled guilty by association is so high that it might drive them to settle out of court. It’s a game of high-stakes reputational chess where no one wants to be caught on the wrong side of Diddy’s reputation.

Despite Diddy’s denial of all allegations against him, Nierman predicts the rapper’s brand may never recover. With each new case or allegation, it seems, his name continues to weigh heavier for anyone tied to him in Hollywood.
