TMZ spoke with Method Man at ABC Studios in New York City, about the current state of hip-hop, and he made it clear that the charges against Diddy have no connection to hip-hop culture.
As the TMZ description explains, “Method Man wants everyone attaching Diddy’s downfall to the state of hip-hop music to pump their brakes … and stop trying to conflate the issues!!!”
He compared the situation to the downfall of R. Kelly, stating that while Kelly might be cancelled, there are still a lot of people streaming his music.
The rest of the exchange with the Power Book II: Ghost star consisted of him promoting crotchet bucket hats designed by his son (he’s seen in the video rocking a baby blue one), which he says means no more doo-rags.
Diddy and Method Man don’t have too much of a musical history together, although Diddy is credited alongside Tony Dofat for producing the Missy Elliott-assisted “Say What,” on Meth’s 2004 album, Tical 0: The Prequel, and Meth featured on a Mary J. Blige album (“Love @ 1st Sight”) a year earlier on a song co-produced by Diddy.
You can catch Method Man in Power Book II: Ghost on Paramount+ Canada. In the show, Meth plays Davis Maclean, a criminal defence lawyer.
