TLDR: The new Drake promo video, “No Face,” dropped by October’s Very Own on Instagram, might just be a teaser for a larger project, as well as a clear plug for OVO merch.
In a surprise drop, October’s Very Own shared an intriguing one-verse promo video for a recent Drake tune, “No Face,” on Instagram earlier this evening. The clip showcases Drake in scenes that feel like they’re straight out of a full-length video, yet they’re punctuated with visual highlights of OVO merch—a likely nod to the label’s clothing line. With a straightforward caption reading only “October’s Very Own,” the promo video suggests more than just a quick merch push, stirring up speculation about the possibility of more from Drake dropping in the near future.
The timing of the release is worth noting. Just a day ago, TMZ reported that Metro Boomin, a key player in the ongoing Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef, is facing a new lawsuit involving serious allegations from a woman who accuses him of sexual assault back in 2016. As fans know, “No Face” takes aim at several of Drake’s antagonists, including Metro Boomin, which gives the song’s visual drop an interesting twist in terms of timing. However, it’s also possible this video was scheduled in advance, with no direct correlation to the breaking Metro Boomin news.
Released back in August, the London Cyr, Connor Sewer, DJ LEWIS and Octavian-produced “No Face” originally debuted on an Instagram page rumoured to be linked to Drake under the handle @plottttwistttttt, alongside two other tracks, “Circadian Rhythm” and “SOD.” Though an early version of “No Face” featured a cameo from Playboi Carti, the artist’s verse was ultimately removed before the track was released on streaming platforms.
With slick visuals and Drake’s signature style, the promo video does its part to keep fans guessing. Whether it’s simply OVO’s latest push for its merch line or the teaser for a larger release, “No Face” is once again placing Drake in the spotlight.
