Countless artists have taken to social media to mourn the loss of Migos rapper Takeoff, and some have even decided to walk away from the scene altgoether.
Earlier today, responding to news of Takeoff’s senseless murder in Houston this morning, rapper Desiigner was visibly upset when he went on Instagram Live, announcing that he’s “done rap.” He also posted the message on his Instagram Stories. It feels like a prominent rapper is being murdered at a monthly rate at this point, so it’s easy to imagine more people wanting to distance themselves from all of it.
“Why? Why? Why do we do this?” he screamed into the camera. “Why do we fucking do this? Why do we fucking do this?”
“This version of me is done!” the “Panda” rapper proclaimed while pointing to his plaques.
He continued on to say he couldn’t “live life like this anymore,” and paid tribute to Takeoff and other murdered rappers including PnB Rock, Nipsey Hussle, and Notorious B.I.G.
