The 2022 Pioneer DJ Canadian National DMC DJ Championships came to a conclusion this past week with a historic outcome. For the first time in nearly four decades of the Canadian DMC branch hosting the annual event, Canada has crowned a female National DMC DJ Champion! Toronto’s Deejay T-Jr took the decision with a convincing six of nine judges ranking her as first place.
After the dust settled the nine member judging panel ranked the top three DJs as:
1st – Deejay T-Jr – 58 points
2nd – DJ Veilside – 52 points
3rd – DJ Klin – 50 points
Deejay T-Jr takes home a Pioneer DJM-S5 Battle Mixer and will move on to represent Canada at the 2022 DMC World DMC DJ Championships. This marks the first time a female DJ will represent Canada at the DMC World event!
DMC Canada’s National Director Amir Handan spoke to HipHopCanada about the competition:
“The DMC World DJ Competition has always been about inclusivity. It is great to see a female DJ take the Championship! DMC is the longest running, most prestigious DJ competition in the world and it is open to everyone regardless of gender, age or nationality. We hope that this historic win inspires future generations of DJs and wish Deejay T-Jr much success at the DMC World Finals.”
For those of you looking to view the video submissions, the Canadian National DMC DJ Championship videos will be released after the DMC World Championship Finals.
