DJs across Canada have submitted their best 6-minute routines via video for the 2023 Pioneer DJ DMC Canada Online Regional Competition. These individuals are all vying for an opportunity to capture the coveted Regional Championship leading to the 2023 Pioneer DJ Canadian National DMC DJ Championships as well as some impressive prizing courtesy of event sponsors. The competitors range from some seasoned veterans to some newcomers representing the younger generation of Canadian DJs. They also hail from a variety of locations in Canada. The DJs competing in this year’s 2023 Pioneer DJ Online Regional DMC Competition are (listed alphabetically):

- Goadman (Surrey, BC)
- J’Aded (Vancouver, BC)
- Klin (Toronto, ON)
- Nyse (Toronto, ON)
- The Word (Calgary, AB)
- Skrapbeats (Edmonton, AB)
Like many live event organizers, the Canadian DMC branch helmed by Amir Handan is looking at 2023 as a rebound and rebuilding stage post COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the shutdowns the Canadian DMC Battleground typically would include several live Regional Competitions in a variety of markets across Canada. The 2023 Pioneer DJ Canada Online Regional Competition was put in place to allow all DJS across Canada regardless of geographic location an opportunity to compete.
DMC Canada has also tapped an impressive line-up of judges to officiate this round including the likes of DJ Grouch (Turnstylez – Toronto, ON), J-Tec (Turntable Monkz – Toronto, ON), Jimmi Riggz (Hamilton, ON), DJ Wax (Vancouver, BC) and G-Nius (Vancouver, BC). Let us not forget the legendary Total Eclipse (X-Ecutioners – NYC, USA).
A change of regime has also occurred at DMC World HQ with the “Regal Ruler” Tony Prince hanging up his headphones and looking forward to retirement while his son Dan Prince has taken the helm. With the new leadership it has been announced that the 2023 Technics DMC World DJ Championships will be taking place in San Francisco, California, USA on November 3. This marks the first time in nearly two decades that the DMC World DJ Championships will be held outside of the UK. This event features a stellar line-up including performances by Dilated Peoples, Mix Master Mike, the Invisibl Skratch Piklz (DJ Q-Bert, D-Styles, Shortkut), DJ Kentaro (Japan), Prime Cuts (UK) and more.
As a reminder, the Canadian DMC DJ Championships is a series of annual events that run alongside the DMC World DJ Championships that were established in 1985. Each year DJs across Canada compete at what the “Olympics of DJing” for an opportunity to represent our nation at the the highest level on a global stage.
