Canadian rapper Dax is back with a heartfelt new single and video which has made an immediate impact. The “Lonely Dirt Road” video was posted on Oct. 11 with a message from Dax about how much it meant to him.
“‘Lonely Dirt Road’ is a personal song I wrote,” explains Dax. “Share this with everyone and anyone, and let’s make an impact. Somebody out there needs this. Love y’all… Thank you.”
“Lonely Dirt Road,” produced by Lex Nour Beats, touches on themes of depression and mental health, comes with hard hitting lines that are resonating with fans who have already dropped over 3600 comments, and over 30K likes. The song explores feelings of isolation and self-reflection, making a profound connection with its audience. As the chorus goes, “When I need space that’s where I go / A place to escape that nobody knows / Where I feel free to let things go / And face this evil that burdens my soul.”
Dax has long been a champion of mental health advocacy, and was recently acknowledged by academics researching the struggles surrounding men’s mental health. “Dax’s lyrics and our research reflect an enduring social health challenge,” wrote a group of researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, “the deafening silence that typically surrounds men’s mental health.”
The Logan Meis-powered video has been viewed over 337K times, is quickly closing in on half a million and is currently on YouTube’s trending chart. It follows the video for his posse cut “God’s Eye (Remix)” which features Phix, Thiezking, Brutha Rick, Ben Becker, Jerome Dillard, Seth Addison, Carly Pearl, Romeo Thegreatwhite, P!X!E, Mic Manic, Javier Zachi, TheSanity, and Armstrong. That video, also directed by Meis, has been viewed over 2 million times to date.
You can find “Lonely Dirt Road” on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms.
