XO Artist Chxrry22 Unveils New Single “Just Like Me”

TLDR: The latest single from Chxrry22, the Believve-produced “Just Like Me,” showcases her dynamic artistry and sets the stage for her upcoming projects.

Toronto’s own Chxrry22 is back, and she’s making waves with her latest single, “Just Like Me.” Released today via XO Records / Republic Records, this track is a testament to her evolution in the R&B scene. With its keyboard-driven, throwback beat produced by Believve, “Just Like Me” seamlessly blends glitchy claps and a pulsating bassline, creating an infectious groove that’s hard to resist.

In “Just Like Me,” Chxrry22’s charisma shines through as she playfully confesses, “I like to keep a clean white tee, but I like to do my dirt lowkey.” The chorus echoes with energy, “I guess I like ’em just like me!” This release not only highlights her vocal prowess but also her knack for crafting relatable narratives that resonate with fans.

This single follows her 2024 hit, “Poppin Out (Mistakes),” which garnered critical acclaim. PAPER Magazine noted, “With the punchy new single, ‘Poppin Out (Mistakes),’ Chxrry22 proves that she’s ready to bring unapologetic and free vibes to the world in abundance.” Billboard included it among their “R&B/Hip-Hop Fresh Picks of the Week,” stating, “The perfect pre-game playlist for girls night, Chxrry22 crafted an awfully fun bop to reverse a heartbreak.” Rated R&B described it as “fiery,” and Happy Mag attested, “Chxrry22 is proving she’s more than just a rising star – she’s here to stay.”

Adding to her impressive portfolio, Chxrry22 recently featured on The Weeknd’s album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, leaving a memorable voicemail on “Reflections Laughing” (featuring Travis Scott and Florence + The Machine). She also made a cameo in the music video for “Cry For Me,” further solidifying her presence in the industry.

Fans can look forward to seeing Chxrry22 live as she joins FLO on the Access All Areas Tour across the East Coast, including two Canadian dates. The tour will be in Montréal on April 29th (MTELUS Montréal), and reaches Toronto on May 1st (HISTORY). This opportunity allows her to connect with audiences and showcase her electrifying performances.

Reflecting on her journey, Chxrry22’s rise from Scarborough to signing with XO Records as the first female artist is nothing short of inspiring. Her debut project, The Other Side, captured the attention of major outlets like Billboard, UPROXX, Vibe, Complex, and Entertainment Tonight. In 2023, she released the critically acclaimed EP, Siren, featuring collaborations with artists like Offset, further cementing her status as a formidable force in R&B.

As Chxrry22 continues to evolve and redefine the R&B landscape, “Just Like Me” serves as a vibrant testament to her artistry and the exciting path ahead.
