Hamilton’s Banman Set To Release Debut EP on Feb. 28

TLDR: Hamilton, Ontario rapper Banman is set to release his 6-track EP, Ups & Downs, on February 28th, 2025.

Emerging from Hamilton’s vibrant music scene, newcomer Banman is poised to make a significant impact with his forthcoming EP, Ups & Downs. Scheduled for release on February 28th, this 6-track project delves deep into the Banman’s tumultuous journey through addiction and the path to recovery.

Ups & Downs isn’t just an EP; it’s a narrative experience crafted to be heard in sequence. Banman masterfully intertwines raw, unfiltered lyrics with compelling beats, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into the highs and lows that have shaped his life. The EP’s structure reflects its title, balancing three upbeat tracks—the “ups”—with three darker, introspective songs representing the “downs.”

“These songs have taught me patience. I could’ve released them years ago, but I wasn’t ready. Now, it feels like the perfect time.” – Banman

The standout track, “Didn’t See Me Coming,” exudes an infectious energy reminiscent of classic West Coast vibes. Written six years ago, this song encapsulates Banman’s vision of emerging from obscurity to make an indelible mark, both personally and artistically. Remarkably, the track was recorded in a mere two hours, a testament to Banman’s dedication and the years spent refining his craft.

Banman’s journey is one of resilience. Battling addiction from a young age, he faced numerous challenges, including multiple overdoses and stints in treatment centres. A turning point came with a life-altering workplace accident in April 2023, leading him to rediscover his faith and commit to sobriety. This transformation reignited his passion for music, providing a platform to share his story and inspire others facing similar struggles. “With this change I realized all I ever wanted to do was release my music, to touch the hearts of others, and inspiring recovering addicts and addicts who are still suffering, that recovery is possible,” Banman explains.

In the lead-up to the EP’s release, Banman has unveiled singles like “Back Up” on January 1, 2025, accompanied by an official music video available on YouTube. This track delves into the harrowing cycles of addiction, offering a message of hope and redemption. Another single, “Take Me Back,” dropped on February 1, 2025, further showcasing his lyrical prowess and thematic depth.

is more than a musical endeavour; it’s Banman’s testament to the power of perseverance and the belief that, regardless of past hardships, one can rise, inspire, and make a difference. You can pre-save / pre-add the EP, here.
