Calgary’s rising star, AK-SLIM, is back and in full force with the release of his highly anticipated music video, “BEASTMODE.” Dropping today, on his birthday, the track marks a triumphant return for the artist after a quieter year of releases. Recorded in Vancouver, BC, “BEASTMODE” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Vietnamese-Canadian sensation Lomax in da Cut, and is already making waves as the soundtrack to AK-SLIM’s comeback.
AK-SLIM’s unique melodic flow is on full display in “BEASTMODE,” as he taps into raw energy, laying the groundwork for a summer anthem. The track carries an unapologetic tone, reflecting his ambition to dominate the Canadian music scene. One of the most striking lines, “I cannot go to the States, told that b***h I can’t go back to LA,” gives fans a glimpse into AK-SLIM’s personal struggles. The lyric references his legal woes from his 2019-2020 incarceration, which currently bars him from entering the U.S., despite having admirers waiting for him in Los Angeles.
Released by CapCityHipHop in collaboration with SAFI Entertainment, “BEASTMODE” is AK-SLIM’s first video since his single “Phonez Off,” which accumulated over 56K views to date. Shot by Sadatr with editing and visual effects handled by New Wave Visuals, the video is an eye-catching spectacle, perfect for reintroducing AK-SLIM as a dominant force in the game.
