Joe Budden Makes Good on Promise to Bishop Brigante

TLDR: Joe Budden makes good on his promise to support Bishop Brigante in his fight against cancer, giving a significant contribution to help with his growing expenses.

Toronto’s Bishop Brigante has been a staple in Canadian hip-hop for over two decades, from his gritty battle raps to his acting career and clothing line, The Ends. Recently, however, Brigante revealed a more personal battle—his fight against colorectal and peritoneal cancer. This difficult news, which Bishop shared in October 2023, has seen support pour in from fans and friends alike, with one notable name standing out in recent days: former rapper and current podcast heavyweight Joe Budden.

Back in May, Brigante launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the rising expenses he’s incurred while fighting for his life. Every last dollar makes a huge contribution to him, and his family, as they remain determined to overcome this hardship.

Budden, during an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, spoke candidly about his respect for Brigante, giving a heartfelt promotion for the campaign and pledging to contribute in a significant way. True to his word, Budden followed through with a substantial donation, which Brigante confirmed with HipHopCanada earlier today. Although the specific amount remains undisclosed, Brigante’s gratitude was clear. He called Budden’s contribution “more helpful than I’ve could’ve ever imagined.” Bishop also credits Budden’s manager, Ian Schwartzman and the entire Joe Budden Network.

“This contribution comes at a time where my battle is at its peak,” Bishop said via text. “As doors keep closing in on me, the more I need help. Joe’s help has arrived when needed the most. My family and I are extremely grateful to have these types of angels in our corner. God bless the entire JBN community.”

Joe Budden’s gesture is a powerful reminder of the hip-hop community’s often-overlooked loyalty and solidarity. Beyond mere words, his contribution represents a deep, almost familial support among artists—one that transcends borders. For Bishop, it’s more than financial help; it’s a gesture of faith and friendship at a time when he needs it most. As he continues his fight, one thing is certain: he’s not in it alone.
