Canadian recording artist Money Marlo has officially announced his next single, “30’s.” It’s the Scarborough-native’s first official drop since 2015, and the first of three new records expected out before Spring 2022—each with stunning visuals to support their roll-out.
“30’s” was equally inspired by one of Marlo’s favourite pieces of jewelry—a diamond .30 pointer tennis chain worth approximately $40,000—and a 30 round magazine of ammo which has become increasingly tied to violence in his city.
“The visuals are going to hit like a 30 round clip,” said Marlo of the release. “30 pointers in my chain ain’t no baby diamonds, they didn’t want to see my shine so Imma blind them.”
Since the early 2000’s, Marlo has been affiliated with and under the mentorship of the Rockaway Riot Squad—a Far Rockaway Queens, New York-based supergroup founded by Bynoe and Cau2G$, along with the late greats Stack Bundles and Chinx. Marlo helped spearhead Riot Squad’s growth north of the border and he plans to use his comeback to help push the brand onto a new generation of listeners.
Marlo has come a long way since promoting his Money Over EveryThing series, and the moves he’s got planned for his 2022 campaign are a testament to that. Look no further than the accompanying “30’s” video for an example of his growth and maturity. Shot by Kavin Roberts and edited by Orazio, the art direction and concept for the “30’s” video were crafted by Marlo himself and does an incredible job capturing the essence of the single. From a snow-filled kitchen, an impressive Game of Thrones-esque ‘ice throne’ or a flashy Lamborghini Urus, there’s no shortage of eye candy to grab the viewer’s attention.
Along with the music video, Marlo plans on supporting the single by launching an augmented reality (AR) filter on Instagram and Facebook to give fans a chance to interact with the campaign. Marlo also plans to step into the NFT space later this year and is currently preparing his first collection.
The “30’s” single and video will be available on March 18, 2022 but you can pre-save it today. Stay tuned for “Christian” and the Lollypopbeatz-produced, “Love Song.”
