Following his popular “TOXIC” remix video—and the “Forgot About Dre” remix which managed to rack up over 2 million views to date—Ottawa native Dax is back with yet another new release. This time, the LA-based creative is giving fans a taste of his upcoming debut album with a new single.
“Child of God” was released at the end of July, and clocks in at two minutes and 38 seconds in length. Production was handled by LexNour Beats, who has previously worked with Dax on “Why So Serious” and a ton of other tracks. “Child of God” features Dax reflecting upon his religious thoughts and spiritual beliefs, opening with introspective bars:
“Dear God,
Thank you for leading me down this path
I’m thankful for the man that I am
At first, I didn’t understand
Now I see the tribulations that I faced, we’re all part of the plan”
The supporting visuals were powered by Moses Israel and has already managed to bring in more than 1.13 million views on YouTube. Dax took to Instagram to explain the meanining of the song, and that it would be featured on his forthcoming project:
“‘Child of God’ is the 1st single I’m dropping off my first album and the goal is for it to give hope and make an Impact. It’s a prayer. An affirmation…”
