TLDR: The Tri-Cities Producer Showcase returns to Kitchener on Sept. 19 with a stacked beat battle, live performances and some serious local talent.
Kitchener’s beatmakers are getting another night in the spotlight when the Tri-Cities Producer Showcase Beat Battle takes over Ouroboros Sports Lounge on Saturday, Sept. 19. Starting at 8 p.m., the $15 cash-entry event brings together producers, rappers, DJs and artists for a showcase built around the region’s hip-hop community.
Founded by Know-It, the Tri-Cities Producer Showcase has roots stretching back more than a decade. “The Tri-Cities producer showcase is an event that I used to throw on around 2011-2015. It was a pretty successful beat battle format. It became pretty popular to the point other cities would ask me to bring it to their cities,” he explains.
“We have had a lot talent come through over the years including top billboard producer Harley Arsenault now of OVO fam. We also had guys like Lancecape, and Superville.”
After years of people asking for its return, Know-It revived the showcase in 2025. “For years everywhere I went people would ask me to bring them back so in 2025 I did just that and they have been a great success! The beat battle talent is unreal.”
This year’s Kitchener edition features Mikhos, Zed Flanders, Maxtrumentalist, Presto, Pangea Delphi, Reazhun, Rickochet, Arranged by Straange, ADD, Superville and Chewy Beatz battling it out. Shark hosts, with music from DJ Carmelo and S-One, art curated by Ean Kools, and Everfresh, Adrian Terell and Mike Gatto aka Cable handling judging duties.
Elaquent headlines the performance lineup alongside The Lyricists and Darius Xavier. “My next event is Saturday September 19th in Kitchener. The headliner is Elaquent, he’s going to play some beats.”
But for Know-It, the night is about more than competition. “It was also cool because I could also put on a couple of local rappers to perform at the event and get them some shine too. I really enjoy putting on the event and getting local guys some shine in front of an audience.”
The Tri-Cities Producer Showcase Beat Battle takes place Sept. 19 at Ouroboros Sports Lounge, 101 Hazelglen Dr. in Kitchener. Doors get moving toward an 8 p.m. start, with admission set at $15 cash.
