Earlier today, A$AP Rocky dropped another new single and video in support of his latest studio album. Inspired by mega star Taylor Swift, the Hitkidd-produced “Tailor Swif” was released with stunning visuals shot in Ukraine powered by directors Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia.
Shortly before the song was released, Rocky announced that he’d made the decision to drop it officially since it had already been leaked. “SINCE U DUMMIES LEAKED IT ALREADY.”
“I’m too swift, don’t tell Taylor ’bout this shit (Swift, yeah)” – A$AP Rocky (“Tailor Swif”)
However, Rocky’s choice to name-drop Taylor in the track hasn’t gone unnoticed by Swifties—her fiercely loyal fanbase. Many have taken issue with the mention viewing it as yet another instance of being fixated on the pop star or trying to stir up drama to capitalize on her massive popularity.
As some comments gathered by the Daily Mail indicate, there’s a large array of reasons why their unhappy Swift was referenced: “Trying to get Taylor’s clout,” said one social media user, while another stated that “the obsession of male rappers with Taylor needs to be studied.”
A quick search on X and you can find a growing amount of negative comments about the song being released. “now why the f is asap rocky releasing a song called ‘taylor swift’ lmaooo,” posted one user, while another chimed in with “Another one using Taylor Swift for clout cause her wife isn’t enough. Let’s make abundently clear who’s starting beef with who.”
There’s also been mention of the “controversial” artwork released with the “Tailor Swif” single (see below). You can find “Tailor Swif” on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms. Flacco’s next album, Don’t Be Dumb has been pushed back until Fall.
