Classified, Quake & more to compete against ex-NHLers in ECMA Cup

East Coast musicians, industry professionals, award nominees, and ex-NHL players take to the ice to compete for the ECMA Cup on Sunday, May 6. Taking place at the Dartmouth 4-Pad ice surface in Burnside from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the public is invited to attend. Donations are being collected at the door (pay what you can), and all proceeds go to the Unison Benevolent Fund.

Participants lacing up for the event include musicians Classified (along with his brother Mike Boyd), Quake Matthews, Troy Arsenault (Alert The Medic), Ryan MacDonald (Alert The Medic), Rankin MacInnis (Party Boots), Rachel Beck, Jason MacIsaac (The Stanfields), Kinley Dowling (KINLEY), Chris Ryan, Bryan Page (Andrew Hunter & The Gatherers), Bruce Gillis (Town Heroes), Mat Budreski (The Mike Bochoff Band), Matt Gorman (Fossil Cliffs), and Jason Price, industry professionals and ECMA 2018 nominees Tim Hardy (Sound of Pop), Glenn McMullen (Sound of Pop), and Daniel Ledwell, active NHLer Logan Shaw, NHL alumni Donald MacLean, Andrew Gordon, and Joe DiPenta, and media personality Cyril Lunney (CTV Morning Live).

Coaches for the game are Charlie A’Court and Jon Landry (The Stanfields) and the special guest announcer is Ian Robinson from Hot Country 103.5.

Classified suits up against former NHLers on May 6

The ECMA Cup is sponsored by Cleve’s Source for Sports, who are providing jerseys for both teams, and the Halifax Regional Municipality, who has donated the ice surface.

The 2018 East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference kicks off today with the Kick Off Waterfront Concert launched by Waterfront Development in partnership with Port of Halifax, Downtown Halifax Business Commission, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and Ulnooweg.

The free, all-ages, open-air concert takes place at the Foundation Place Lot (1549 Lower Water Street) and featuring performances by Ashley MacIsaac, MAJE, Mo Kenney, Port Cities, and Kalolin Johnson beginning at 6 p.m.

Classified scheduled to perform tomorrow, May 3

Classified, who is currently promoting his new Anjulie-assisted single “Changes,” is scheduled for a live show on Thursday, May 3 inside Halifax’s Scotiabank Centre. The multiple ECMA and JUNO-winning rapper/producer is expected to perform the new single along with another recent release, “Powerless.”
