Ty Dolla $ign Returns with Girl Music Vol. 1

West Coast artist Ty Dolla $ign returns to his R&B roots with Girl Music Vol. 1, a six-track EP featuring powerhouse collaborators like Brandy, Ronald Isley, and Leon Thomas. Some might say it is the ultimate soundtrack for the ladies—the project is packed with smooth grooves, sultry late-night energy, and heartfelt lyrics. Known mostly for his high-energy club bangers, Ty Dolla $ign shifts his focus to more laid-back tunes on this record.

According to the L.A.-based singer, the inspiration for the project came from a dinner in New York City, where the restaurant’s DJ played songs that led to a conversation about the kind of music women truly enjoy.

“The DJ at the restaurant was playing all the right music, and it got us thinking about the songs that girls really want to hear. Everything about this project—from the title to the track list to the collaborators—has been organic and natural.”

Known for his signature velvet vocals, Dolla $ign delivers on every track with effortless charisma. “This project was a natural return to my musical sound, performing with a live band, my real R&B vibes,” he said. “This is some of my favorite music I’ve made in a long time.”

The EP opens with the sultry “Nobody Has to Know,” featuring the legendary Ron Isley. The lead single, “miss u 2,” pairs the crooner with Leon Thomas, highlighting their undeniable chemistry and Leon’s captivating voice. The Brandy-assisted ballad “intention,” produced alongside Camper, is another standout, while “3 billion” brings a nostalgic early-2000s energy.

Girl Music Vol. 1 is the follow-up to his 2025 album TYCOON, featuring guest appearances from Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, and A$AP Rocky. While it did receive some mixed reviews from critics, this project aims to serve as an anthem for the ladies and is certainly a must-listen. “This is only volume one,” Dolla $ign promises, teasing even more R&B magic to come.

You can stream Girl Music Vol. 1 now on Spotify via Atlantic Records.
