Since mid-January, the Passport Boys Canadian Tour has been tearing through Western and Central Canada, and yesterday the 24-date campaign touched down in Thunder Bay for the first of 11 dates in Ontario.
Featuring New York City’s own Tony Yayo of G-Unit, and special guest Peter Jackson of 9-0-Nickel Entertainment, the Passport Boys has has been a huge success, drawing large crowds, and reminding Yayo how much he’s revered by his Canadian fans. He even takes a moment on camera to remind 50 Cent that he’s been encouraging him to capitalize on the G-Unit popularity in Canada, while flashing a pile of G-Unit merch being handed to him to sign.
“Yo Fifty, this is what I mean when I say come to Canada.”
Jackson and Yayo have been building for quite some time and recently recorded a new collaboration (“Black Clouds“) during a trip Jackson made to NYC over the holidays.
Along with soaking up the tour life, Jackson has also been vocal about his appreciation for the advice and experience Yayo has been sharing while they’ve been on the road.
“I’ve rocked with a lot of artists I grew up on, but none gave me game like this,” Jackson wrote on Instagram during the tour stop in Victoria on Jan. 21. “I Appreciate you King. 🤞🏼💯 @Tonyyayo”
Jackson and Yayo have the day off today but tomorrow night they’ll be live in Sault Ste. Marie inside SOO Blaster (345 Queen St. E). The tour heads to Sudbury on Feb. 2, Oshawa on Feb. 3, and London on Feb. 4, before making a highly anticipated stop in Toronto at The Rec Room (255 Bremner Blvd.) on Feb. 5. There will still be nine other opportunities to catch the tour live including two stops in QuĂ©bec, one in New Brunswick, and one in Nova Scotia.
Jackson has been quite active with tour updates on social media, giving a sneak peak into behind the scenes of before and after their performances, and the other interesting things they’ve done along the way. In Edmonton, Yayo and Jackson caught Connor McDavid’s 49th assist of the year live in the Oilers loss to Columbus, while footage captured in Victoria made it clear they’re both eating and smoking good. Videographer Shawn Thomas of the Canadian Film Coalition has also shot some stunning footage on the road, which really highlights and captures the incredible scenery across Canada.
Speaking of Thomas, the seasoned director is also behind the new video for “Black Clouds” video which will be premiering tomorrow right here on HipHopCanada. Check out some of the footage below and don’t sleep on the opportunity to catch the Passport Boys live in concert.
