With the success of last year’s eight-city initiative, Bring Ya Eh Game is proud to bring back their impactful Hip Hop Food Drive for its ninth year.
The community-focused project collaborates with community leaders in nine Canadian cities to raise money and donations for partner food banks in each city. Their partners span across five provinces and include: Ottawa, Gatineau, Vancouver, Halifax, Calgary, London, Kingston and Saskatoon, At the end of the fundraising period, there will be a show in Ottawa on December 21, 2023 at the Rainbow Bistro featuring Zoo Legacy, Hevve , Miss McLeod, ConcreteRose LaDon, Cult Classicko, VSN, J.V, and a special Cap City Cyphers. Music will also be provided by Ottawa’s own Circa Beatz.
The cost of attendance is a $10 donation with a non-perishable food item or $15 without. With food insecurity and inflation on the rise, Canadian food banks face record-breaking demand. This Christmas, #HHFD gives artists and supporters all over the country the opportunity to give back.
Marking the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, this Ottawa concert is perfect for hip-hop fans who want to uplift their community while supporting the local music scene. Award-winning radio host, hip-hop artist, and active community organizer, Justin Gunderson aka J Morris, started the Hip Hop Food Drive to ease the pressure on local food banks, a community resource he has personally benefited from in the past:
“I started the Hip Hop Food Drive nine years ago to help out communities in need of food donations. I combined my love for hip-hop music with my personal experiences of receiving from food banks and the food drive was born.”
If you’re not able to make it to the Ottawa show, you can send an e-transfer donation to [email protected] or visit the secure website HipHopFoodDrive.com to donate.
