Montreality: Wu-Tang Clan speaks about late great Prodigy

In the most recent interview from Montreality, the Wu-Tang Clan has a timely discussion following the passing of Mobb Deep member Prodigy. In the four-minute interview, both RZA and Raekwon elaborate on the impact of the late rapper.

RZA explains, “We love Prodigy, all of us. We lost a true legend of hip-hop, a true emcee. Havoc and Prodigy both were advanced beyond their years, some emcees don’t get good until they’re 25, but at 19 the kid was already nice.

Raekwon echoed similar sentiments, and reminisced on their personal relationship, conceding, “Me and Prodigy had a relationship for over 20 years. He had a good ear for beats, I always told him, his ear for beats was golden. That’s my family right there. We ‘gon hold his Legacy down.

Among this conversation, the Clan also touched on the value of new age rap with RZA admitting, “Music is music, we come from an era where you had to have dope lyrics, but we don’t discriminate. They can co-exist. I bet the guys who’s doing it, they didn’t call it mumble rap. Let them make their music and have fun.
