TLDR: YouTube channel VAULT breaks down the 2019 criminal case involving Lil Durk and King Von, who were charged with attempted murder and other offences after a shooting outside Atlanta’s Varsity restaurant. Though the case initially moved forward, all charges against Durk were eventually dropped in October 2022.
YouTube channel VAULT recently took a deep dive into the dark and crazy story behind the case Lil Durk and King Von caught in Atlanta.
As VAULT explains: “In this video, we explain how Chicago rappers Lil Durk and King Von got themselves wrapped up in a criminal case in Atlanta and all of the crazy events that happened while Lil Durk and King Von were out on bond for their case.”
In May 2019, Lil Durk, who has been a central figure in hip-hop’s street-to-stage narrative, surrendered to authorities after an arrest warrant tied him to a shooting outside Atlanta’s famed Varsity restaurant. Alongside the late King Von, Durk faced a litany of charges including criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, gang-related activity, and multiple firearm violations. At the time, a Fulton County judge ruled there was enough evidence to proceed.
As Fox 5 Atlanta reported: “A motion to dismiss charges filed on Oct. 17 said: ‘The facts of this case have been reviewed and although probable cause existed for the defendants arrest, the decision at this time is not to prosecute.’ A few days later, charges against Lil Durk were dropped, as Georgia’s Superior Court of Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis dismissed the case.
