Ghanaian-Canadian artist R.O.Z and label EMB sign partnership with Sony Music West Africa

A few days ago, Sony Music West Africa announced a new deal with Canadian artist R.O.Z, and his indie label, EMB Inc. This marks the first partnership deal between Sony Music West Africa and a North American independent record label. It will act as a stepping-stone for future music and business relations between the continents.

Upon returning back to his roots in Ghana alongside brothers and label co-owners Richmond Nyantakyi and William Nyantakyi (aka R.O.Z) fell in love with the music, the evolving scene, and the potential for growth between Africa and Canada. This blossomed a vision to bridge the gap in both business and music with hopes to inspire and open a gateway for other emerging entrepreneurs. Since signing, this has enabled EMB Inc. to further their philanthropic contributions, add to the developing infrastructure and provide significant opportunity for aspiring young African and North American artists.

With the release of Z International in 2018, R.O.Z gave us the first glimpse of his merge between hip-hop, afro and R&B sounds, all in one album. With features including Mr Eazi, DJ Ecool, and other upcoming afro acts, along with the album’s first single and video, “Free,” featuring Davido.

Ongoing travel between continents since 2016 has led the brothers to many achievements, yet their relationships with prominent Afrobeat pioneers dates back to 2011. Early ties to international superstar Davido and Sony Music West Africa’s General Manager Oluwaseun Lloyd AKA Banko, brought about the opportunity to perform throughout Europe, Africa, Canada, and USA on the 30 Billion World Tour. EMB Inc. also had the privilege to spread the Afro sound to new heights as part of Sanya’s ISY Festival, China’s first ever afrobeat showcase.

“Knowing the potential is one thing, but seeing it come to life is another,” said Lloyd. “This partnership with the brothers has already started to make an impact in Ghana, so now it’s all about expansion.”

Entertainment Money Business EMB Inc. is looking forward to signing new Canadian and African talent alongside their current roster in conjunction with Sony Music West Africa/International.
