The death of Pat Stay is undoubtedly one of the biggest losses in Canadian hip-hop history, and people have been honouring his legacy in various ways including holding candle light vigils and releasing tributes.
This morning, Canadian hip-hop pioneer Organik of King of the Dot announced he was planning an event in Stay’s honour, and put out an open invitation for others to work with him to make it happen.
“I’m organizing a Pat Stay memorial battle event,” Organik wrote in a tweet. “I’m 100% open to working with other leagues. 100% of profits will be going to Pat’s family. I want to make this the biggest event ever to raise as much for his family as we can. Let’s do this together as a culture. 🙏”
Pat Stay was a King of the Dot World Title holder, having won the title during World Domination 4 by defeating Arcane, and successfully defending his title against Dizaster, Daylyt, and fellow Canadian MC, Charron. He lost the title to Illmaculate in a close call at World Domination 5 in 2015. Stay is tied with the current title holder, Real Deal, for most successful title defenses at 3.
Stay tuned for more information about the memorial event.
R.I.P. Pat Stay.
