Why Murda Beatz Stepped Out of the Spotlight: Still a Major Force

TLDR: Murda Beatz, a prolific Canadian producer in the rap game, hasn’t exactly disappeared but has certainly been in the spotlight a lot less lately.

Why Murda Beatz Stepped Out of the Spotlight

Once the most sought after producer in hip-hop, Murda Beatz is no stranger to success. With a catalogue filled with hits from heavyweights like Drake, Migos, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Scott, it’s hard to ignore how the Fort Erie, Ontario native rose to fame so fast. But lately, fans have noticed a decrease in his name being attached to new projects, leaving many like Eleven 11 asking, Why Murda Beatz Suddenly Disappeared.”

Despite the curiosity, the truth is far from scandalous. Murda Beatz hasn’t disappeared—he’s simply earned the right to move at his own pace. After dominating the charts with platinum hits and launching his own label under Interscope, Shane Lindstrom (his real name) is taking a more selective approach to the work he chooses. When you’ve accomplished what Murda has, you can afford to take your time and work on the projects you truly care about.

Case in point: his ongoing collaboration with Baltimore’s Shordie Shordie. The two linked up for Memory Lane, a mixtape that dropped on February 26, 2021, through Warner, showcasing Murda’s continued talent in the studio. On October 27, 2023, they released Memory Lane 2, further proving that while Murda might be out of the headlines, he’s far from done.

If anything, this “disappearance” speaks to Murda Beatz’s evolution as an artist. He’s no longer just chasing hit after hit but focusing on quality, collaborations, and maintaining his creative freedom. While his name might not be as ubiquitous as it was five years ago, Murda Beatz is still very much a force in music—and when he does decide to release, the world takes notice.
