Vancouver’s Kresnt channels his inner Kanye in “One More Thing” music video

Vancouver recording artist Kresnt starts his graduation speech with, “First of all gotta thank myself,” and proceeds to showcase why. As a recent university graduate, like many students during the pandemic, Kresnt was not able to attend his own graduation ceremony; thus he created a Zoom conference call for the class of 2020.

The Marleau-produced track, “ONE MORE THING” prefaces Kresnt’s album, HUSTLE SOLD SEPARATELY, which is set to drop on January 26th (pre-save link). “ONE MORE THING” takes a satirical approach on both the song and video as Kresnt speaks on the bandwagon people around you giving false advice the moment you see a little bit of success:

“One time for the shoulda would guys
Throwing crook eyes
Typical hood lies
Yeah I can guess
Go ahead
Let’s hear the flex”

The accompanying music video, directed by Liam MacCosham, follows the lyrics of “ONE MORE THING” closely, with each punchline taking the viewer into a new scene. Whether it’s going into a literal battleground, or Kresnt playing the role of an accountant, the video perfectly captures the essence of the “ONE MORE THING” concept. It’s also got fans in high anticipation for the new project.

Last week, Kresnt released the first single off HUSTLE SOLD SEPARATELY, “Apartment 308,” which was produced by Toronto’s own Young Jin. The “Apartment 308” artwork features a 6-year-old Kresnt in a one bedroom apartment with his three brothers. The Afghan-Canadian artist speaks on escaping war from Afghanistan as a refugee and finding a new home in Western Canada. The new album serves as chapter one in Kresnt’s life as he puts together his punchline-style-bars reminiscent of old Lil Wayne mixed with JAY-Z’s The Blueprint and Ye’s College Dropout.

Kresnt set the bar high for himself and ultimately made an authentic project telling his own story. You can find “Apartment 308” on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via The Lunar Cycle. You can pre-save “One More Thing,” along with the album, here.

You can check out the new video below, along with a live performance clip of “Apartment 308.”
