Released in support of Asian Heritage Month which kicked off on Monday, budding Vancouver talent Kresnt returns with his latest release, “Tokyo Drip.”
The song and accompanying video were handled by an all Asian creative team while Kresnt was living in Japan for over a month. Kresnt self-directed the video for “Tokyo Drip”—and also handled the editing—while Jenavieve Louie was tasked with filming.
The video features stunning visuals and a captivating storyline all shot in Tokyo, Japan which perfectly complements the song’s lyrics and mood. Some scenes in this video also show a tribute to A$AP Rocky’s “L$D” music video which was also shot in Japan in similar locations.
“Tokyo Drip” samples the infamous “Tokyo Drift” melody and was produced by Asian-American producer Bigboi Hefner, who is based in New York, as well as Indigenous music producer and songwriter, NXSTY, who is based out of Vancouver.
Along with celebrating Asian Heritage Month, “Tokyo Drip” serves as the lead single off an upcoming EP which Kresnt has graciously given us the exclusive on the project’s title reveal. The CALMEST EP is expected later this year. You can find “Tokyo Drip” on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms.
