On a new episode of The Drama Hour, Papoose sits down with Mayor Eric Adams and General about the Hip-Hop Museum in the Bronx, immigration issues, turning New York City around after COVID-19, rap lyrics being used to prosecute MCs, and more.
Mayor Eric Adams is a former police officer and the 110th mayor to serve New York City, having been sworn in back in 2022.
Since taking office, Mayor Adams has maintained notable connections to the hip-hop community. Last year, he made headlines by hosting a high-profile press conference and reception to kick off a year-long celebration honoring hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, and announcing new funding for the Hip-Hop Museum. In a more controversial move, Adams also sat down with a group of drill rappers after publicly blaming the genre for fueling violence, sparking a dialogue between city leadership and the artists shaping the culture.
The Hip-Hop Museum—listed as temporarily closed if you Google it—is a museum dedicated to the celebration and preservation of hip-hop music, dance, art and culture and “permanent place to celebrate the music that has made the Bronx famous around the world.”
