Gimme a Hug: Reaction Videos to Drake Song Flood YouTube

TLDR: The new Drake track “Gimme a Hug” has YouTube buzzing with reaction videos dissecting his response to Kendrick Lamar and other rivals. With slick production and a signature melodic flow, Drake takes a reflective yet confident stance on his ongoing rap feuds.

Drake knows how to keep the world talking. His latest track, “Gimme a Hug,” featuring PartyNextDoor, isn’t just another melodic flex—it’s a carefully crafted statement aimed at his critics, with a few choice words for longtime rival Kendrick Lamar. Released on February 14, 2025, through Santa Anna Label Group, OVO Sound, and Republic Records, the song has already sparked intense reactions across YouTube, with fans and analysts dissecting every bar and beat switch.

Produced by a powerhouse team—including Gordo, Kid Masterpiece, Klahr, Liohn, Simon on the Moon, and Noel Cadastre—the track fuses smooth vocals with a production that effortlessly shifts between moods. While Drake doesn’t go full-on war mode, there’s enough lyrical sharpness to remind listeners that he’s paying attention to the drama that dominated hip-hop headlines in 2024.

“Yeah, Drake elimination, fake intimidation
Take a minute, take a deep breath,
have a little bit of patience
‘Drizzy, you amazin,’ you the inspiration
You set the bar for the next generation”

– Drake, “Gimme A Hug”

Reaction videos have been rolling in fast, each offering a unique take on the song’s impact. The duo at InTheClutch Ent questioned if it was “the best song on the album,” a sentiment echoed by many in the YouTube hip-hop community. Meanwhile, Lost in Vegas gave their usual measured breakdown of the track, focusing on the song’s layered production and lyrical subtleties.

DJ Ghost, never one to hold back, gave an animated breakdown of Drake’s bars, highlighting the slick jabs and smooth delivery—Drake even had Ghost rewinding the track multiple times, and learning the lyrics mid-reaction, which says a lot for those familiar with his content.

The LawTWINZ seemed particularly hyped about this version of Drake, calling it “the Drake we wanna see.”

Lyrical analyst Scru Face Jean speculated that the song also takes shots at Joe Budden, fuelling further debate among fans. The specific line being, “Melyssa Ford, you a legend from the 6, hate to see you with a d**k-sucker.” Rapper and analyst Knox Hill posed the question on everyone’s mind: “Did Drake finally respond to Kendrick?”

Regardless of where you stand on the ongoing feud, “Gimme a Hug” proves that Drake isn’t done addressing the noise around him—he’s just doing it his way.
