Diddy Trial Date Set for May 2025 As Bail Is Once Again Denied

In a significant legal development, the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to begin on May 5, 2025, following federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. The trial date was confirmed on Thursday during a court hearing in New York, presided over by Judge Arun Subramanian. Diddy, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was in attendance with several of his family members, showcasing a calm demeanour while waving to them as he entered the courtroom.

The prosecution, led by Emily Johnson, has projected that their case will take approximately three weeks, although they hinted at the possibility of a superseding indictment, which could introduce additional charges or involve other defendants. Meanwhile, Combs’ defence team, headed by Marc Agnifilo, is expected to present their case in about one week.

Judge Subramanian used the hearing to address the sensitive nature of the case, issuing an order that both the prosecution and defence refrain from making public statements about grand jury material or non-public evidence. This follows a controversial motion filed by Combs’ legal team, accusing the government of leaking a hotel surveillance video from 2016 to CNN , which shows Combs assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura . The prosecution firmly denied possessing the video before its publication.

Along with setting the trial date, Diddy was also denied bail for a third time. As he awaits trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, both legal teams are preparing for what could be one of the biggest celebrity trials in recent years. The next hearing is scheduled for December 18, 2024.
