Boi-1da Wins International Achievement Award at 2025 JUNOs

TLDR: Toronto’s Boi-1da makes history at the JUNOs this year, becoming the first producer to win the JUNO International Achievement Award.

Toronto’s own Boi-1da just added another jewel to his crown. The hit-making maestro behind some of the biggest records of the last two decades is set to receive the prestigious International Achievement Award at the 2025 JUNO Awards, making history as the first producer ever to claim the honour. The ceremony, which will be broadcast live from Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on March 30, will shine a well-deserved spotlight on one of the most influential architects of modern hip-hop and R&B.

From his early days crafting beats for a then-underground Drake to working with Rihanna, Eminem, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West, Boi-1da has built an undeniable legacy. His production resume reads like a playlist of the most iconic tracks of the streaming era, amassing 19 Grammy nominations, 60+ platinum singles, four RIAA-certified Diamond records, and three Billboard Hot 100 number ones along the way.

“Being recognized with the International Achievement Award at the JUNOS is a huge honour,” Boi-1da shared.

“Canada has always been home, and its music scene shaped me into the producer I am today. To be able to take that foundation and contribute to music on a global scale means everything. I hope this inspires the next generation of Canadian artists and producers to dream big and know that the world is listening.”

This marks only the tenth time the International Achievement Award has been given out in JUNO history, and Boi-1da joins an elite group of Canadian music heavyweights. He’s also the only producer to ever receive the honour. The recognition is a long-overdue nod to the behind-the-scenes powerhouses who help shape the sound of a generation, proving that producers deserve just as much shine as the artists they craft hits for.

“This year’s JUNOS Special Award Recipients exemplify the very best of what Canadian music has to offer,” says Allan Reid, President and CEO of CARAS.

“From creating superstar recordings to leading with compassion in their humanitarian efforts, we are excited to celebrate Boi-1da and Sarah Harmer for their work and profound impact.”

Of course, Boi-1da isn’t the only one being celebrated this JUNO season with a special achievement award. Singer-songwriter and activist Sarah Harmer will also be honoured with the Humanitarian Award on March 29 for her environmental and social advocacy work.

Fans can catch the full JUNO Awards broadcast live on CBC and streaming platforms worldwide. For Boi-1da, this is yet another milestone in a career that continues to redefine what’s possible for a hip-hop producer hailing from Canada. When he first started, the prospects for Canadian talent were limited, but today, the opportunities are boundless.
