AR Paisley’s latest Sidhu Moose Wala collaboration closes in on 20 million views & tops YouTube’s Trending for Music chart

At the beginning of the month, the latest video from the late great Indian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala was released. “Drippy,” which is quickly closing in on 20 million views, is currently in the top spot on YouTube’s Trending for Music chart, ahead of the North West-assisted “Talking / Once Again” by Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign, and the new “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” single released by Beyoncé.

The song features Punjabi superproducer MXRCI, and Mississauga-born recording artist AR Paisley. “Drippy” has already pulled in over 7.48 million streams on Spotify, making it Paisley’s second most successful track on the platform behind another collaboration with Sidhu and MXRCI called “Love Sick” (66.6 million and counting).

Sidhu Moose Wala, born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, rose to stardom in Canada after moving to the country in 2016 as a student. He was tragically shot dead in India on May 29, 2022 in what Indian police described as a gang attack with possible ties to Canada. He was only 28. Just prior to his death, SIdhu had stepped into India’s political arena as a candidate for India’s main opposition party. The attack came just a day after the government had withdrawn his security detail. To be clear, Sidhu was one of over 400 people who had their security details re-assigned, in what is called an attack on the country’s “VIP culture.”

For more information about his career and legacy—including finding success with Toronto producer Big Byrd—be sure to check out the short documentary by Toronto-based We Love Hip Hop (“SIDHU MOOSE WALA | The Real Story | The Rise & Fall Of A Legend | Real Toronto Story Series“).

You can find “Drippy” on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms.
