Day 52: Young Thug’s Trial Could Take Another Year, Breaking Georgia Records Along the Way

After Day 52 of Young Thug’s trial, YouTuber CUFBOYS looks at why the RICO case could end up taking another year to finish.

Over the past 19 weeks, legal proceedings in the Young Thug’s trial have seen numerous twists, with testimony from key witnesses and various pieces of evidence being scrutinized. The trial, deeply rooted in allegations of gang-related activities and other charges, has gripped the music world and fans alike.

Young Thug, real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, has pleaded not guilty to all charges. As the case progresses, the music community watches closely, awaiting the outcome of one of the most high-profile trials in recent music history.

Just recently, Atlanta, Fulton County-based Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville denied Young Thug’s defense motion to disqualify Chief Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love.

The defense argued that Love’s continued involvement jeopardized Young Thug’s constitutional rights to a fair trial. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ office countered, stating that there was no compelling reason for Love’s disqualification.

Additionally, Glanville, after urging better preparedness from both sides, received an updated witness list from Willis’ office, totaling 153 witnesses. Approximately 40 witnesses have testified in the trial, which has been ongoing for four months. It’s quickly becoming Georgia’s longest trial in history.

Judge Glanville emphasized the potential for weekend court sessions if the lawyers fail to improve communication and accelerate the pace of proceedings.

“I have spoken with our sheriff and consistent with the court if necessary need be we’ll start having court on Saturday and Sunday. That’s my call, so if you don’t want your Saturday and Sunday sucked up, I think we need to work a little harder in terms of being able to streamline and that goes to both sides. We are looking at another six months, that’s asking a lot.”
