TLDR: The new Tona single “Wave Grease” featuring Sayzee is out now on Bandcamp, setting the stage for H.O.T.C. 2. The Kount handles the production, and DSPs get the track March 21.
Toronto’s hip-hop scene is getting a fresh dose of slick lyricism and undeniable chemistry as Tona and Sayzee link up on the new single “Wave Grease.” Produced by The Kount, the track is currently available exclusively on Bandcamp, with a wider release to major streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify set for March 21.
Tona’s last official DSP release, “Legacy,” dropped on February 4, continuing his run of thought-provoking and intricate wordplay. Before that, he appeared alongside Xentury on the DJ Ritz single, “Ambition,” further cementing his place in the ever-evolving Toronto rap landscape.
With his last full-length project, H.O.T.C., arriving on December 19, 2024, through District Entertainment / A-Level Entertainment Group, fans are already anticipating what’s next. And Tona isn’t keeping them in the dark—he’s confirmed that H.O.T.C. 2 is on the way, with “Wave Grease” likely making the cut. “More work off of hOtc2. No official date of release as of yet,” he teased in the track’s Bandcamp description.
Meanwhile, Sayzee has been moving at his own relentless pace. Fresh off the February 3 release of the Stained Glass EP with Mally Abstract, he also dropped “Old Ways” with Awol in January and capped off 2024 with the two-part (A Side and B Side) monster that is YFRWN X, featuring the standout single “Can’t Escape.”
With “Wave Grease” already making noise on Bandcamp, fans of both Tona and Sayzee have plenty to look forward to as March 21 approaches. If this track is any indication of what’s in store for H.O.T.C. 2, Toronto hip-hop heads are in for something special.
