Toronto rapper Tona is deep into the rollout of his latest album, H.O.T.C., and today he releases the Kardinal Offishall-produced “OWTS.” The track follows the Y-Not-produced “Fame” which was released earlier this month.
Tona and Kardinal have a long track record of working together, dating back almost two decades. They were both featured on the single “I’m Here,” by Famous, and Kardi was featured on Tona’s Rich Kidd-produced and DJ Wristpect-mixed single, “TIMING,” off the Reform School mixtape back in 2012.
The new single is a nod to Kardi’s classic, “On Wit Da Show” which was b/w with the song “Naughty Dread” on 12″ vinyl back in 1996. It was also a fan favourite on Kardi’s Eye & I album which dropped in 1997.
You can currently find “OWTS” on Bandcamp. Stay tuned for H.O.T.C., and future collaborations between Tona and Kardinal.
