Budding Star Taz Bentii Heads to Atlanta Ahead of June Debut

At just 20 years old, Ottawa rapper Taz Bentii—known professionally as Taz*—is steadily carving out a lane in North America’s crowded hip-hop landscape. With roots in Canada’s capital and sessions stretching into Atlanta and Florida, the rising star has emerged as one of the most promising young artists in the region.

Taz*’s sound leans heavily into melody and mood, echoing the emotional intricacies of artists like A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Polo G—two names he credits with shaping his approach. His songwriting process is quick and instinctual: “I hear a beat then I put words to the music,” he explained in an earlier interview, recalling how 2024’s “Fall 4 You” came together in under an hour at Ottawa’s The Cave studio with producer Daniel “Dray” Paisly.

Since then, the pace hasn’t slowed. His first 2025 single, “Wake Up”, dropped in February, followed by “FashionNova Queen” in April. Both showcase his knack for crafting hook-heavy, streaming-ready tracks that blend personal reflection with mainstream appeal.

Back in December, Taz* closed out the year strong with “DNA” featuring TVGUCCI, and the sun-soaked “Fall 4 You” video shot in Miami, which has racked up close to 100K views on YouTube. The Spotify stream just recently passed 160K streams, making “Fall 4 You” his most successful release to date.

Just this week, Taz* teased his growing profile with an Instagram video revealing two recent interviews on iHeartRadio—one with Ferrari Simmons and another with Manni Supreme—further proof that his name is beginning to ring out well beyond the 613.

With his debut project expected this June, including work with southern heavyweight Drumma Boy and industry vets DJ Holiday and Big Heff, Taz* is setting himself up for a major summer. Follow his journey on Instagram.
