Paralyzed: Budding Calgary artist KAYAM releases first single & video of 2022

Calgary continues to showcase undeniable talent, proving it’s a city A&Rs and Canadian record labels should realign their focuses on. Artists like Ruben Young, Harm Franklin, Kam Prada and, of course, Curtis Waters, are a few names of well-known names that have broken through with their individual viral hits. 19-year-old KAYAM seems to be the next Calgary artist destined for viral success.

At just 19, KAYAM has developed an incredibly tightly-knit fanbase that pushed his fourth overall release, “Worth It” onto the Canadian iTunes pop charts in late 2021. In addition to early chart success, KAYAM has amassed over 500K combined streams across all four of his singles. The young emerging artist was also selected by Live Nation’s Two Towers and Calgary’s 10at10 organization as one of the lead opening acts for Lil Tjay and Roy Woods. The young new artist has already received recognition from Virgin Radio, HipHopDX, Sidedoor Magazine, OVO, Lil Tjay, Paul George, Ali Gatie, and Giveon to name a few.

“I feel like everyone’s caught feelings too fast before and then watched the other person leave. It’s crazy because Paralyzed came from a place of reminiscing in almost a jaded way about how relationships, or even just talking stages, end. I think I put together the layout of the song in 10 minutes because the emotions just materialised into lyrics and melodies easily, and I knew I liked the song right away.” – KAYAM

With over twelve hundred Spotify presaves and three hundred plus Apple Music presaves, KAYAM’s first offering of 2022, “Paralyzed” is posed to make some serious noise within the Canadian Music industry. The new single is accompanied by a colourful yet creative music video that showcases KAYAM’s coming of age, and closes the door on KAYAM’s past sounds and personas. Most importantly, it symbolises his reintroduction to Canada’s music industry.

The accompanying video for “Paralyzed” was shot and directed by YAMZAVISUALS. You can find the single now on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via Norfside Entertainment.
