HipHopMadness on “How Lloyd Banks sabotaged his career”

HipHopMadness returns with a new feature on the career of New York City rapper Lloyd Banks, who rose to fame alongside 50 Cent and G-Unit in the early 2000s.

As much as it may seem like the ultimate goal, becoming an overnight sensation is a dangerous route. Suddenly awarded everything you could ever want in the blink of an eye, the slew of one-hit-wonders that hip-hop has birthed, have made its pitfalls all too clear to see.

Widely regarded as one of hip-hop’s finest MCs and the unofficial “Punchline King,” Lloyd Banks is a fan favorite to most who lived through the commercial boom in the 2000s. But in the eyes of some, he’s the poster boy for taking your foot off the gas.

Banks’ latest release is the 18-track The Course of the Inevitable which was released on June 4, 2021 via Money By Any Means Inc. / EMPIRE. You can stream it on Apple Music, and other digital outlets, or check it out below.
